The “Visiting Author” presentation includes an inspiring introduction to get the children to realize what strong feelings they may have that are connected to their interests in life. Sharon then links their interests to the importance of reading (and math!) by sharing her personal journey through the book making process from a story concept in the mind to the writing, editing, sketch, illustrating, and book design stages. Children will be able to see actual notes, sketches, and paintings from “The Snowman, the Owl, and the Groundhog.” Sharon motivates the children to want to develop a love of reading by showing the practical way it helps one to attain their goals in life. All of this is presented in a fun, engaging way with the children. |
